About

Reflektion Design began in 2006 in Ghana, West Africa. Of course I did not know that at the time but that is where the seed was planted. I was selected as a Fulbright Scholar and spent 8 weeks in Ghana immersed in not only the culture but also the process of creating various African textiles and the sights, sounds and wares of the African marketplace. This is where I felt alive and connected to the community.

I also volunteered at a school for girls that taught sewing and developed nonprofit marketing curriculum with professors at the University of Cape Coast.

But it wasn't until late 2013 after being laid off that I revisited my love affair with Ghana. I was at a crossroads but instead of feeling defeated I considered it opportunity to forge my own path. When I thought about the happiest moments of my life Ghana surfaced repeatedly. It was then I realized I had to share my passion for African textiles and culture with others and Reflektion Design was officially launched.

Philosophy

Your home is the ultimate canvas for self-expression.  From the lighting fixtures to wall color items in your home should reflect who you are, spark memories of past adventures, inspire new ones and be the ultimate statement of your style.

Instead we often settle for decor with little self relevance or imagination. Cookie cutter decor void of visual aesthetics and most importantly void of you. You are vibrant and worldly. You make a statement in all areas of your life; your home should make a statement as well.

Now it can.

I’m Anitra and I design decor for culturally inspired people who love unique, colorful pieces reflektive of who they are. Using a curated approach to sourcing textiles and a discerning eye for pattern I offer products that help you to create a home that feels collected not decorated.

Say goodbye to humdrum decor and hello to decor that sparks conversations and makes you smile every time you walk into your space.

Products

My product line includes decor, tableware, handwoven baskets and travel accessories. I intentionally chose African textiles (Mud cloth and Ankara fabric) as the foundation textiles for my brand because of its vibrancy, history and cultural significance dating back to the 17th century.

Fabrics are ethically sourced from around the world, products handmade in Los Angeles, California.
